An event on one of the most current topics at the moment – blockchain and cryptocurrencies – was held in Plovdiv Tech Park. The event was held in a hybrid form – in person and online through the ZOOM platform. One of the reasons for the event is the huge interest in the cryptocurrency market, whose market capitalization increased from $ 250 billion to over $ 1 trillion in the past 2020.
The forum was opened by the Executive director Venelin Yordanov, and the lecturer was Vasil Dabov – Honorary President of the European Blockchain Federation.
Third generation blockchain
The focus of the lecture was the topic “Third Generation Blockchain” and in particular the Cardano project with its cryptocurrency ADA. It became clear from the lecture that in the near future we can expect a significant increase in interest in third generation projects, which in turn are much more effective and secure. According to the lecturer, no blockchain can satisfy all needs. Many of the projects are paradigm-specific, so we need to educate ourselves on when and how to implement a blockchain solution.
The main advantages of blockchain technology were mentioned in the lecture: security, immutability, encryption and decentralization.
New members of Cardano Group Plovdiv were accepted at the event. The management of Plovdiv Tech Park announced that it will grant bonuses in cryptocurrencies to all employees in order to encourage interest in blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.
After the lecture, the executive director Venelin Yordanov invited the attendees to the opening of the Blockchain laboratory in the building of Plovdiv Tech Park. Details about the machines and the computing power were presented by the head of the IT department at Plovdiv Tech Park, Rosen Gerasimov. It became clear that two cryptocurrencies are currently being mined there – Ethereum and Ethereum Classic.
The blockchain laboratory is available to students in the educational complex of the technology park, including the High School of Informatics “Academician Blagovest Sendov” and the Professional Private College of Innovative Technologies. Students and college students also have a ZEN computer for ultra-fast computing, drones, a robot and other high-tech hardware.
